EVERYDAY LITERACY FOR LOCAL COMMUNITIES
FIRST ROUND GRANT CHEQUES HAVE BEEN MAILED
Cheques have been mailed to the successful applicants for the first grant round funding through the Everyday Literacy for Local Communities program. The program funds Neighbourhood Houses for literacy projects in their local communities. The original seed funding for the program was generously provided by the Tasmanian Community Fund.
Thank you to all those who made an application. Ten applications were received covering twelve houses. Funding requests ranged from $500 to just over $29,000.
Seven applications were successful and, of the total of $70,415 requested, funding to the value of $34,931 was approved.
Applications covered a variety of approaches and funding requests. Useful general feedback on the applications is available on our website at www.tach.asn.au. Details of the successful projects are listed below.
The next funding round will open on Monday 12 April and close on Monday 10 May 2010. More details will be available in March but in the meantime, feel free to contact Ron Sutton on 6244 1615 if you have any questions about the program or check out the TACH website.
Links to the Funding Guidelines are provided below along with links to additional information and a feedback form. Note particularly the application assessments and observations which may be useful in preparing future applications
HELP AVAILABLE
Do you have migrants and people from culturally diverse backgrounds using your House? Would you like information and strategies for working with them?
The Migrant Education teams from the Tasmanian Polytechnic can arrange a short training session for you. This could be particularly useful in the context of the Everyday Literacy for Local Communities Program.
Please contact: Laura Chapman in the South Laura.Chapman@polytechnic.tas.edu.au or Vicki Walker in the North Vicki.Walker@polytechnic.tas.edu.au
